BEACH SAFETY VIDEO IN PACIFIC NORTHWEST

SEATTLE - The Coast Guard plans to distribute a beach safety video along the Oregon and Washington coasts in an effort to remind beachgoers to use caution while on the beach.

The 10-minute video will be distributed to hotels, school districts, tourist centers and emergency response agencies in coastal communities.

The video covers hazards such as rip currents, airborne driftwood, sneaker waves and rising tides and includes interviews with Coast Guard and local law enforcement personnel and footage of a recent Coast Guard rescue in Cannon Beach, Ore. and several people being knocked down by a sneaker wave in Ocean Shores, Wash.
